Welcome Penny

Murdoch Penny

MUMFC welcomes @Murdoch University Melville Football club #StateLeagueDivision goalkeeper and former Australian player as our new Girls and Women’s Vice President. Penny is a lifelong advocate of grassroots football and a Life Member of our club. We’re thrilled she is rejoining our executive committee as we know she will continue to share her considerable knowledge and enthusiasm with players, the club and community in this vital role.

You may have seen some of Penny’s volunteer work in the football community, as she serves as editor of the Women’s Soccer WA website and has advocated for our sport for the past three decades as the radio show host of the weekly World Football Programme, on air on local Fremantle Radio.

Penny will be presented with the May Campbell Medal for distinguished service to Sport in  Western Australia in February at the Annual WA Sport Awards.

Our club, Melville City FC, was Penny’s first club at the age of 13 and she continues to play in the club’s State League Division women’s team. An all-round girls and women’s football ambassador, Penny was inspired to take up her VP role by the incredibly passionate and encouraging culture she has seen build and develop in the club’s girls and women’s coaches since the inspiring @Football Australia-hosted FIFA Women’s World Club Australia & New Zealand 2023.

With the first FIFA Women’s Club World Cup set to kick off next year and the Asian Cup Qualifiers in Perth, we will see the building of much more interest in women’s football. Penny hopes to foster a greater connect between resources and player-pathways across the club and in the community to help make football and MUMFC a family-for-life for our players and their families.

MUMFC is the biggest Western Australian football club south of the river, established in 1969 and will open its brand new $5 million facility in the City of Melville this year near Murdoch University.
