In November and December our new Technical Director, Mark Jones, ran a summer training program for eager U9s (24) and U10s (18) at Murdoch University. Spanning four weeks it was great fun but also serious football development for our members.
Over these four weeks and eight sessions, we have seen some great results:
- The boys have really progressed well. Not only have they improved their football skills and learned new ones: they also started to actively engage their brains with what they are doing on the football pitch - a crucial step in their football development
- For those new to the 2018 season's development squad this has been a great introduction to the expected standards of participation and learning, and for the others it will set them up for a very successful football season as well
- Despite expected end-of-year fatigue, the boys were all committed and have overall participated enthusiastically and respectfully: it really was a great group to work with.
In this short amount of time the boys have learned an enormous amount from Mark's experience, and it's a great start of many more things to come from Mark with MUM FC. Not only the boys though, also the volunteer coaches who assisted Mark have learned a lot from working alongside him and observing how he puts his vast experience into practice with our youngsters. This will in turn benefit your children and the club as a whole.
Many thanks also to volunteer assistant coaches Wim Schoeman, Marc Scannel, Ryan Menezes and Hooman Baickdeli for their coaching assistance during these four weeks.
