The first activity of the year for the club is the Open Day in February. It is followed by a series of free sessions through February to welcome you to our club and introduce you to the coaches and appropriate level for you. Sessions are for 10-17 year olds and are operated by the clubs senior role models and coaches.

WHAT DOES REGISTERING WITH THE LARGEST FOOTBALL CLUB IN WA ACTUALLY MEAN?

The massive amount of players wanting to join Melville over the past five years has meant the club has run out of its usual space. Melville are currently working towards developing a new facility.  Thanks for joining our club and creating a mass of smiles and colour and chatter!

In response to this and because it is Public Open Space, the club now works with cricket, footy, athletics, tee ball and rugby, to multi-use Len Shearer (our home ground), Marmion Reserve, Myaree, Troy Sports Park, Attadale, Tompkins Park Melville, Winthrop Park, Bill Ellison Reserve Bateman and Bert Jeffries Park, Murdoch. That's working on community engagement!

 

What this also means is that there are more things to manage behind the scenes than you can imagine, to allow you to do what you love the most - PLAY FOOTBALL!

Importantly, with so much to do,

how do we ensure the young players are mentored along the way,

how do we encourage your leadership skills and

how do we keep us all feeling part of the same football family?

Here's How We Do It

Conduct a series of Girls specific open preseason sessions, incorporating the Club Open Day, Perth Glory and State League Women, plus a Buddy Up Day for girls teams to meet our Women's State League players, to encourage player pathways. These are designed specifically for girls to play and have fun, meet new team mates, meet your coaches and find there might level for you to play, learn about stretching, strength, injury management, hydration and nutrition from our senior women players and coaches engage a sports trainer/physio for the womens State League, that is accessible to all girls and women's teams provide teams in all age groups from Rooball Age through to Academy's and State League teams (parents are the backbone of our club and the club supports further development with paid Coaches at our top end) provide a base for Perth Glory holiday and other programmes throughout the year run linesman and question and answer nights with Association referees (it is the duty of our club to provide a lines person for each match and a back up trained referee who is on call. There are not enough Association referees for every club match in Perth). We work with Football west to provide free accreditation for full paying female members and there are scholarships available. You can nominate to referee only junior or female games, once accredited and earn yourself some great pocket money.

MUMFC supports players, team managers and coaches with training and match day gear, management resources such as manuals, jackets and polo tops, regular communications with club coordinators to have your opinions heard, off site and in house upskilling and accreditation, working with children qualifications (WCC is not required if you are a parent coaching your daughter) players receive a playing kit of shirt, shorts and socks. You get to keep your shorts and socks, shorts are supplied every second year to returning players and to all new registering players. Polo tops are supplied every second year to returning senior players and to all new registering senior players. Our girls and womens teams endorse the Breast Cancer message and are clearly identified in pink. Playing jerseys are replaced every 3 years and the club may change sponsors at this time.

We want to do this because we know YOU want value for money, to ENJOY yourself and for all this work to get you there, we want YOU to stay on the park as long as possible, to feel a commitment to our club, and we certainly want you to be able to support your team in the best way possible.

The season proper kicks off in April (May for Rooballers). Team Coaches and Managers are a very much appreciated and welcomed resource.

The club has Rooball (pre 10 age), 11s, 13s, 15s and 17s girls teams in 2016 (plus Metro/Social and State League women's).

The club supports a pathway from Rooball through junior, Metropolitan and State League Premier and Reserve Squads. At Rooball age (5-9 years) Melville promotes Perth Glory and Football West skill programmes and an in house Rooball competition at Len Shearer Reserve Booragoon. The Division One women's team was promoted for the first time into Premier Women's State League competition for 2013 after winning the Football West State League Division One in 2012.

Participation and mateship, genuine endeavour and role modelling through senior players, will bring out the best qualities in you. By providing a host of opportunities and pathways for girls and women in football, Melville hopes to enhance your football experience and the values that team sport offers for a healthy life experience. We hope that this will encourage club loyalty and provide a great environment for your whole family to be a part of.
