Club Announcement : Murdoch University Melville Football Club would like to welcome our newly appointed Technical Director Sam Gallagher.

Sam has had an extensive football career in Australia’s A League, U20 Australian Squads and stints overseas in Vietnam, Norway and the UK.

Sam was coaching at Manly United FC in Sydney, where he became the Technical Director, before moving to Perth with his young family. Most recently he was coaching at Perth Glory FC both as the A League W Assistant Coach for the 2022/23 season and Head Coach within the Junior Academy.

Sam is very excited for his new adventure here with us at MUMFC!

MUMFC, one of WA’s premier football clubs, is on the hunt for a new Technical Director in football. After years of dedicated service, Mark Jones has resigned, leaving big shoes to fill.

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified individual who can lead our club into an exciting new chapter, working across all football aspects, including state league juniors, seniors, women, and community divisions. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of MUMFC and continuing our tradition of excellence.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mark Jones for his invaluable contributions to our club. His dedication and passion have been the cornerstone of our success.

Mark Jones Retires as Technical Director

Jones leaves MUMFC in September 2023, after several years working with the clubs élite programmes. Murdoch increased its profile significantly during his tenure, including moving elite programmes from Len Shearer to the Stadium at the Murdoch University, being promoted from men’s second division into first division and finishing as NPL women’s champions two years in a row.

16’S AND 17’S GIRLS REGISTRATIONS FOR SEASON 2023 AT MUMFC

Training starts Thursday, February 9 at 6pm at Winthrop reserve (the big park on Winthrop avenue). After which, training will continue on Tuesdays & Thursdays, same time and day. 

Registration is open for our girls teams. To access this, click here.  

The early bird offer is available until end of February. After then, the fee will return to the standard rate (which has increased from last year). Find the girls “EARLY BIRD” selection. I suggest you all get in quick. Any questions regarding registration can be directed to our registrar, Mel, at registrar@mumfc.com.au or myself on the email below. 

MUMFC are hoping to have one U16s and one U17s girls team, and hope to offer those wanting to play more “competitively” the opportunity to do so. This will not be confirmed until players are registered. For this to happen we need you all training & registered early, and encourage anyone you know interested in playing to come down! 

The allocation into 16s or 17s will be determined by age and eligibility. If you would rather play for a certain age group or team, please let the Vice President know early. 

Training opportunities with the social & elite womens teams will be available, which can be arranged.

Former MUMFC Goal Keeper Zara Board Selected for Junior and Young Matildas

Zara Board spent several years developing her skills with MUMFC and the NPL21’s before claiming a first team NPLW spot at Subiaco in 2022. Her National team journey started with the Junior Matildas training camp earlier in 2022 and selection in the squad that travelled to the AFC U18 Championships in Indonesia in August. Now 17, Zara has transitioned into the Young Matildas squad. Good luck Zara!

U13 and 15s Tour to Brisbane 2022

4 matches lined up against Brisbane Strikers, Brisbane City FC, Eastern Suburbs FC & Gold Coast United. A handful of draws, wins and losses over the week helped the boys learn some valuable new life and football experiences against tough and different opposition.
